The Six Hundred and Seventy-first Post: The One Where I Collect More Ideas and Research!

Sorry I missed the last couple of posts. I’ve been working in the afternoon after my nine-to-five job and I’ve lost track of days. I knew today was Thursday, but not it was Thursday. I ma trying to get back into the habit of blogging before Thursday. Of course, but today, I forgot my glasses, so this is going to be a little truncated because the squinting is giving me a headache.

I got a fun idea, and it’s crowding out the fantasy novel I was handwriting, which crowded out Serve Me Now for the time being. It’s Southern Gothic at its core, so I am going to do all my research first. First book I am going to read is The Sound and the Fury to start learning about Southern Gothic as a genre of literature. You’d think that with the background in horror I have, I would have read some of it. I’m looking forward to it.

Serve Me Now has gotten cool for me, and I think I ma going to let it lie there for a minute. I don’t think that’s the problem, though. I’m coming up to a scene that’s going to be a little emotional and sensitive to me. I can use the emotion to punch up the scene, but it’s a little close to me. I just need to process the emotions first before I get started. Next week…next week I should be ready to get back to it.

The Southern Gothic idea deals with hive minds and assimilation, which are genuine, personal fears of mine. I’m hoping this personal horror will translate into the prose. This one is going to be up for publication…either self or through an agent if I can find one. I’ve given up on The Show Must Go On as far as agents go. When I get the time, I am going to give it another look and then just put it up through Amazon. I think it’s good.

Well, that’s all for now. I am getting a headache from typing this. I hope your day is better than mine…or at least clearer. Ta-ta for now.
