Well, Fandom Fest has come and gone. There were pictures taken. All in All it was a decent experience, but holy cow, were there issues:
- The scheduling was horrific. Events were pushed back (or in the case of the panel I really wanted to see, cancelled outright. Thanks, Stan.) or moved about to the hinterlands of the KICC (Literary panel? We have those? Seriously?). I am going to skip out of next year’s convention and try going to one that seemed to be put together a bit better and give them a shot.
- The people doing cosplay were very generous with their time as I was trying to get used to the new camera. There are some photos that didn’t get captured by the memory (Someone dressed up as the Pyro from TF2 – I wanted that picture badly) but I was able to find some of the people and get some second photos.
- Adrian Paul is impossible to shoot because he won’t stand still. Seriously.
- John Barrowman is hilarious. I didn’t get any pictures of him because my battery was low, but I got some recordings of him and as soon as I figure out how to get them upright, I’ll put them on YouTube.
- The stars there walked around in the crowd. I bumped into Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo from ‘Game of Thrones’) and crossed paths with Norman Reedus five times during the course of the convention. Seriously – I think I might have to take out an order or something against him.
As you also might have noticed – I haven’t gotten a thing done all weekend. It was also the first Saturday in a while that I got a full eight hours of sleep. More than likely all the walking I did. On a scale of 1 to 10, this convention was a solid 6. It was good, but there is definitely room for improvement.
Enough of that – on to other things. I saw Pacific Rim and I don’t know why this movie isn’t getting more press. Yes, I wasn’t very happy when Guillermo del Toro said he was bowing out of The Mountains of Madness, but seeing this movie made up for it. Now, I would still like to see his version of the Lovecraft classic, especially seeing how much detail was put into the kaiju. I still hope that he will come back to it as some point… maybe after doing another Hellboy, maybe? I am planning on going to go see The Conjuring and maybe The Wolverine Friday. We’ll see. Right now, I have to get back to the novel and hopefully double my output for this week and try to gain some lost ground, or better yet, get some wiggle room.
Hope y’all have a good day.
Sincerely,
Seething Apathy
